SG Influencer Food Wastage Video Sparks Discussion amongst Singapore Foodies

·

A video showing alleged food wastage at a food tasting event has sparked discussion among Singapore foodies and content creators.

The video, shared by content creator Orhceh, appeared to show attendees at a free-flow pizza event eating the toppings from multiple slices of pizza while leaving stacks of pizza crust behind.

What Happened at the Food Event?

After seeing the video circulating online, we reached out to Orhceh to better understand what happened.

According to him, the issue was not simply that some food had been left unfinished. He claimed that the attendees were repeatedly taking more pizzas, eating only the toppings, and leaving the remaining crusts behind.

He felt that attendees who needed to photograph or taste different pizzas could have done so without repeatedly taking additional food and wasting the rest.

At the same time, it is important to acknowledge that a short video may not always show the full context of a situation. There could be dietary restrictions, allergies, or other circumstances that viewers are unaware of.

A Discussion About Food Wastage, Not Witch-Hunting

Orhceh also emphasised that his intention was not to identify or publicly shame the individuals involved. The faces of those shown in the original video were blurred.

Instead, the incident raises a broader question about food wastage, especially at media tastings, buffets, and free-flow food events.

Content creators naturally need to photograph, film, and taste different dishes as part of their work. But where should we draw the line between doing our jobs and unnecessarily wasting food?

Watch our video above for the full story and let us know what you think.

Is this simply part of attending a food tasting event, or should content creators be more responsible about the amount of food they take?

And on a completely unrelated note, we still want to know what camera Orhceh was using. That zoom was seriously impressive.
